  • Is college really worth it?

As I was cleaning out my room and my closet today and thinking about what I was going to sell on ebay to make some extra cash and also eliminate the need to take it to West Lafayette with me next year, this came to my mind. Right now I am working 2 jobs and I work about 60-70 hours a week. I barely have no time for reading, blogging, seeing family, or hanging out with friends. Now... why am I doing this? I am doing this because I think that if i get all of my bills paid off now then maybe I will be able to work less in college and actually focus on my work. I am killing myself throughout the summer so that I can have a good college career..

Then I thought is it really worth it? To me, the answer is a simple yes.. but then I started thinking about all the kids who don't and never did want to go to college but they were pretty much forced by their parents. They will spend a year, two, and maybe even finish out a degree not ever wanting to step foot into a college or ever use the degree that they earnt and spent so much money to get.. Imagine what it would be like for none of this to be worth it but to be forced to go...

    You're awesome!

I definitely get ya. Your situation is very tough. So, it's easy to admire how hard/dedicated you are. Working that much to make ends meet and go to school is tough. You have to do the best ya can.

If it becomes too much, only you will know. Colleges in this country cost too much. I hope it all works out for you.

Figure out what you want to do.  Wall Street investment banker?  Doctor?  Aeronautical engineer at NASA?  Award-winning author?  Economic policy analyst for the White House?  These are all within your reach!  No, seriously, they are.  A college degree from a D1 university opens up a whole world to you.  Most of this world is not reachable without a college degree, but you have to want to get there.  What would you want to do for a career?  Aim high.  Dream big.

@DBF21 - thanks so much for all the support :) and yes.. college in the United States is wayyyy too much...

@sharp006 - I understand what you are saying completly but there are some people that don't aspire to be anything yet they are still forced to go to college...idk it just seems sorta wrong to me when some ppl would give anything to go but a minor thing gets in their way and stops them, while there are people there who don't even want to be there.

@basketballqt25 - yeah, life's not fair.  but we should make the most out of our individual gifts and talents...why settle for an ordinary existence? :)
